What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogy?

The classroom  is no longer the only place where students learn and interact. Digital Technology enables new ways of critical thinking,  communicating, and working collaboratively.  Manaiakalani pedagogy of "Learn, Create and Share" is a catchy phrase and I will adopt it and use it in all subject areas.

Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogy have taught me today 

This Digital Fluency Intensive Course clearly has shown the effectiveness of combining Digital Technology and Traditional Learning to enhance the learning of the student. I look forward to share and implement the knowledge, tools, programmes and resources with my students. The nine sessions were really intense but amazingly empowering and really changed my way of thinking. Lacking basic knowledge and not being able to fix things can be challenging.

What did I learn that can be used with my learners?

I have will share the tips, tools and tricks I have learnt  to enable new ways for my students to   critically,  communicate confidently  and work collaboratively.  

What did I learn to improve my and a needed confidence, capability  or workflow in my personal life?

Google is my new friend who really gives me that confidence and capability needed to be that effective teacher.

COMPUTATIONAL THINKING AND CODING

What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogy?

I have learnt it is a necessary  skill for the younger student to learn in preparation for future employment.  It helps students  to think and talk about problems and make predictions. Coding is a new language in the digital age. It helps with communication and creativity.  The key competencies highlighted in  Computational Thinking and Coding  include  Using language symbols and text, Relating to others and Participating and Contributing. Coding is essential and a needed tool for future -focused literacy.

Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogy have taught me today that Coding  is Computer programming. It gives  the computer step by step instructions as to  what to do.When  a child is able to understand coding, then he/she is able to  construct, hypothesise, explore, experiment, evaluate, and draw conclusions. With Scratch, one can program ones own interactive stories, games, and animations.Scratch has the real  features of  programming languages, like loops (repeat blocks) and conditionals (if-then blocks).

What did I learn that can be used with my learners?

I learnt to use  Scratch which  enable students to integrate creativity in story telling, games and animation. Scratch allows students gain 21st  century skills.

What did I learn to improve my and a needed confidence, capability  or workflow in my personal life?

I have learnt that  coding is not hard  and impossible to learn . Time, patience and persistence are needed to excel in Coding. Learning Scratch makes Computational thinking and Coding seem like a game and fun.

I have gained valuable insights from the Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogical experts 

(thank you Vicky!) to make my classroom more interactive and creative which in turn will make me very happy within myself.

What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogy?

Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogy have taught me today that devices make learning "UBIQUITOUS".  Learning can happen "ANYTIME, ANYWHERE  at ANY PACE"!

I have learnt that "Rewindable Learning" is an effective learning resource. Another valuable tool to add to my basket. It is a resource that can be accessed by the student and the whānau on the class website "Anytime, Anywhere and the student can learn at his/her own Pace."  I have learnt to  download and use an app " Screencastify."  It is a great way to help students show their understanding of any topic. I have learnt that only when I do explore using the app myself, I gain a better understanding of the effectiveness of the resource. I have learnt how to engage my students with an online whiteboard. whiteboard.explaineverything.com

What did I learn to improve my confidence, capability  or workflow as a professional?

I have learnt about whiteboard.explaineverything.com  and  Screencastify"which are effective visual  interactive tools to enable my diverse students.

A combination of  whiteboard.explaineverything.com   and Screencastify   are effective interactive tools for my diverse learners.   Rewindable Learning benefits the learner who is absent.

I have gained valuable insights from the Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogical experts , (thank you Vicky!) to make my classroom more interactive and creative which in turn will make me very happy within myself.

What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogy?

Thank you Vicky. I really feel more enabled.   I am able to move around and in between meetings and the site easily and smoothly. I was quite bold writing down the three goals of course with much trepidation. I could not believe it,  before 2pm , I created a Google Site for Room 8. I  learnt to easily change the home  insert image. I did it  many times. I  learnt to set up sub pages and link it to another page. Vicky  explained the difference between a link and a button.  Definitely I am feeling very good . What I have learnt today really has  given me a great understanding of  Manaiakalani  kaupapa and pedagogy  

What did I learn to improve my confidence, capability  or workflow as a professional?

I learnt that by persevering and a great patient teacher like Vicky, miracles can happen. Completing my goals improved my confidence , capability and made me understand what it means to a professional. 

What did I learn that can be used with my learners?

 I will share the Site with the class. I will show them how and where to find information. I will be  able to set up/insert  ( by linking)  class projects, artwork,  and photos

I have learnt "that does not matter how slow you go as long as you don't stop.

What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogy?

Thank you Vicky. This was a very interesting and enlightening day. Multimodal learning caters for all students and their different learning styles. I have learnt that Multimodal  enhances the learning experience hooks, motivates and increases engagement.  Colourful presentations, classroom projects  videos, audios artwork  allow interactive learning and makes learning fun.

Collaborating,  creating , interacting ,connecting with educators and sharing can happen with the click of  a button. Multimodal  teaching resources cater for different learning styles. Multimodal develops innovation, information and communication skills.

I was fortunate today. I attempted and created two Google Sites. Definitely I am learning a new language.I have learnt how to attach Sticky Notes. I have learnt how to insert a picture from the internet. I learnt how upload  a video from You Tube and add it to the Google Site. How cool is that!

What did I learn to improve my confidence, capability  or workflow as a professional?

I learnt to "Dive In" and  "Ask Questions". It made me aware of my students. Encourage students to ask questions and instil confidence daily.

What did I learn that can be used with my students? I learnt that Multimodal makes learning fun. Google Sites allows me to create,  share and present information in a more visually attractive. Whanau can be part of their child's learning and be clued up what's happening in the classroom.  Children's  class projects, artwork, photos can be viewed at any time.   

What did I learn to improve my confidence, capability  or workflow in my personal life?

Collaborating, creating ,connecting, Interacting and sharing resources and knowledge is an invaluable tool and resource. Learning and creating Google Sites gave me a better understanding and insight about website and the impact it will have on learning and teaching.

Thank you Vicky. I enjoyed the Google Media workshops. The  creating and the presentation of the Google Slides. 

Manaiakalani kaupapa and  pedagogy have taught me today 

It is an excellent  and effective tool to motivate  the students.  Learning  and story telling will be fun for these ESOL students.

What did I learn that can be used with my learners?

Creating a google slides  and  attaching links 

What did I learn to improve my and a needed confidence, capability  or workflow in my personal life?

I am able to create a google slide, attach links and create a pick the correct answer and even tell them to go back if the answer is incorrect. I have to practise to become confident, faster.

I need help   adding audio and drawings to the slides. I enjoy using the The HTML and Compose buttons but still confused.
